Press Release Summary: Emissions Trading as set out in the Kyoto Protocol 28 January
2008
TV SD selected as \'best verifier\'

Press Release Body: Mumbai. The readers of business magazine \"Environmental Finance\"
have elected TV SD as best verifier of climate change projects under the Kyoto
Protocol. Over the last six years, the emissions trading experts have realized over
800 projects based on the Kyoto Protocol. Offering a comprehensive service
programme, TV SD ranks second in climate-change project validation and
verification worldwide.
The implementation of climate change projects in line with the Kyoto Protocol is
based on the two project-related instruments, Joint Implementation (JI), for
projects in developed countries, and Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) for projects
in developing countries. TV SD Industrie Service GmbH was the first company
worldwide to be accredited for the validation of CDM projects in all 15 scopes of
the Kyoto Protocol. \"Over the past six years we have handled over 800 CDM projects\",
reports Werner Betzenbichler, Head of Carbon Management Services at TV SD
Industrie Service. \"Over 200 of these projects have now been successfully registered
with the United Nations and thus approved for international emissions trading.\" In
addition, TV SD experts accompanied the first JI project worldwide up to its
registration with the United Nations last year. Conversion of the production process
at Ukrainian company Podilsky Cement will result in over three million tonnes of
total carbon savings throughout the 5-year term of the project. The emission
reduction units (ERUs) - the currency of the Kyoto Protocol - generated by these
cuts in emissions will go to the Irish organization which funded the project\",
explains Betzenbichler. According to the emissions trading expert, completion of
this JI project will have a positive effect on the implementation of similar
projects, and thus on global carbon reduction.
In India, TV SD is a leading Designated Operational Entity (DOE) and is currently
working on over 100 CDM projects for validation and verification.
